Gently touch the center of the forehead with the probe. Make sure toremove anything covering the area to be measured, i.e. hair, hats orbandages.

The reason ear thermometers are considered inaccurate is because thepositioning of the probe in the ear canal might affect the accuracy.The forehead thermometer scans the forehead area for temperature givenoff by the arterial blood supply under the skin without the worry ofscanning position.

Temperature measurements are also affected by the type of measurementmethod used. Rectal/Ear temperature is generally half to 1 degreehigher than oral temperature and underarm temperature is generally halfto 1 degree lower than oral temperature. Read below to see temperatureranges:
Underarm Normal Temp: 35.3oC 36.9oC
Underarm Fever Temp: 37.2oC or higher
Forhead Normal Temp: 35oC 38oC
Forehead Fever Temp: 1.0 1.5 degrees higher than usual.
Oral Normal Temp: 35.9oC 37.5oC
Oral Fever Temp: 37.6oC or higher
